Yellowstone may not be getting put out to pasture after all. Taylor Sheridan’s
Paramount Network hit, which was cancelled following its Season 5A finale back
in May 2023, will instead be continuing on with Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser
taking over from Kevin Costner as the series’ leads, Puck reports. According to the industry newsletter, OG cast members Reilly and Hauser, who were rumored (but never confirmed) to be in talks to reprise their roles of newlyweds Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler on spinoff The Madison, are closing deals to remain with the mothership. TVLine has reached out to Paramount Network for comment.
Confused? It’s understandable. For almost a year, Yellowstone’s Season 5B (which kicks off on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 8/7c), has been touted by the network as the neo-Western’s “final installment.”
In March of 2024, Reilly played her cards close to the vest about what might come next. “There are discussions, you know. Don’t believe everything you read. It’s just nonsense.”
Three months later, Costner confirmed on social media that “I’m not going to be able to continue, Season 5B or into the future.”You’ll recall that way back in January 2023, the Season 5A finale (recapped here) left Costner’s John plotting with Beth to rub out Jamie, the treacherous black sheep of the family.
