Season 12 of Chicago Fire left us with the surprising departure of several cast
members. Chicago Fire is the flagship of One Chicago franchise and follows the
professional and personal lives of firefighters, rescue personnel, and paramedics
of the Chicago Fire Department at Firehouse 51. Season 13 is set to premiere on September 25, 2024. As the series begins filming in Chicago, we can reveal who’s in and who’s out in Season 13. Let’s begin with who’s out. Alberto Rosende, who portrayed Blake Gallo, joined Firehouse 51 in Season 8 as a fearless firefighter candidate who had tragically lost his entire family in a fire during his childhood. Near the end of Season 11, he was reunited with an aunt decided to move to Michigan to be closer to his newly found relatives. He made his final appearance in the Season 12 premiere. Rome Flynn, who portrayed Derrick Gibson was first introduced during the second episode of Season 12 as a replacement for Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende).
Gibson’s time at Firehouse 51 came to an abrupt end during the eighth episode. Kara Killmer, who played paramedic, Sylvie Brett, joined the show in 2014 and made her last appearance in a February 2024 episode. In this episode, Brett married Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) and relocated to Oregon to be with him. Eamonn Walker, who played the beloved Chief Wallace Boden, was the very first person cast on Chicago Fire. Walker began playing the role of the Battalion Chief of Battalion 25 in Episode 1 Season 1 before being promoted to Deputy District Chief in Season 10. In the final episode of Season 12 Boden steped into the role of Deputy Fire Commissioner which would take him away from Firehouse 51. Walker, who was born in London, England, did an amazing job of hiding his British accent. Those close to him say he missed his home in the UK. It is said that we can expect Boden to return to the series in a recurring capacity in the future. In honor of Eamonn Walker’s 12 year tenure on Chicago Fire, Cinespace Studios recently unveiled the Honorary Eamonn Walker Way and a commemorative plaque on display on campus. Who’s in?
Michael Bradway is expected to return in the recurring role of firefighter Jack Damon. He came onboard in Season 12 after Rome Flynn’s departure and he didn’t waist any time shaking things up when it was discovered that he was Kelly Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) half brother. Jocelyn Hudon, has been promoted to a series regular for Season 13 playing paramedic Lyla Novak. Hudon appeared in five episodes of Season 12, following Kara Kilmer‘s departure. Dermot Mulroney is set to join the ensemble cast as the new firehouse chief, Dom Pascal. Pascal replaces Chief Wallace Boden at Firehouse 51. KaDee Strickland, known for her role in Private Practice, will have a recurring role as Dom’s estranged wife, Monica. And it’s official! Jake Lockett who plays Sam Carver will return for Season 13 of Chicago Fire and he has been promoted to a series regular.
Lockett initially joined the show in Season 11, and last season, Carver’s storyline heated up as he developed a romantic relationship with paramedic Violet Mikami, played by Hanako Greensmith. In the final episode of Season 12 things took a turn in their relationship and Carver took a sudden furlough from work, leaving us to believe he might be leaving the series. We’ve been holding back on posting a few exclusive photos of Lockett on set filming Episode 1 of Season 13 because we didn’t want to reveal the storyline, but it’s safe to share them now. The regular cast members, Taylor Kinney, David Eigenberg, Miranda Rae Mayo, Christian Stolte, Joe Miñoso, and Daniel Kyri, are all returning for Season 13. Executive producers include Dick Wolf, Andrea Newman, Matt Whitney, Reza Tabrizi, and Peter Jankowski. The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.
