Lainey Wilson sweetly gave a Make-A-Wish child the thrill of a lifetime
as she also teased a Yellowstone return just days after star Kevin Costner
confirmed he will not be coming back to his highly-popular series.
The 31-year-old star appeared on the Today show on Tuesday morning to perform a few songs off of her upcoming album Whirlwind but the best moment of all was when she made a young fan’s dream come true. Her superfan Payton – who is an 11-year-old who suffers from cystic fibrosis and even was so inspired by her idol that she started a band- was summoned on stage and embraced by the country star who dropped some incredible news.
Lainey said: ‘So this is so special to me, you also have the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen, but tomorrow night I am playing Radio City [Music Hall] and I would love to give you and your family tickets and have y’all there.
‘And we’ll hang out before the show. I’ll give you the whole ordeal. It’s going to be so much fun. So would love to have you there. It’s gonna be a party!’
Payton was in disbelief as she quickly accepted the invitation with a massive smile on her face before being hugged by the star.
Lainey looked absolutely stunning in her signature look of black bell-bottoms as she added a pop of color in the form of turquoise detailings including fringe on the vest.
She also sported a matching shimmering turquoise cowboy hat over her signature blonde locks.
On the program she performed songs including Heart Like A Truck, Watermelon Moonshine, Country’s Cool Again, and Hang Tight Honey.
Lainey also teased the possibility of a return to CBS hit series Yellowstone.
Though her comeback has not been confirmed host Al Roker said: ‘Oh and by the way congratulations on season 5 of Yellowstone, you’re going to be acting on it.’
Lainey responded: ‘Yeah, fingers crossed. I’ll tell them “you know put me back in.”‘
She joined the cast of the neo-Western drama series in 2022, and although she’d love to return for the next season, Lainey has remained in the dark about her potential involvement.
The country singer – whose music has also featured on Yellowstone – told Entertainment Tonight on last month : ‘I literally still do not know, but I’m waiting on the call.’
Lainey believes the future of Yellowstone, and her own involvement, will be determined by Taylor Sherdian, the show’s co-creator, who has reportedly been at odds with the show’s star, Kevin Costner.
But the Things a Man Oughta Know hitmaker is desperate to find out whether she’ll be involved with the show moving forwards.
Lainey played Abby, an aspiring country music artist and love interest for Ian Bohen’s Ryan, in the first half of season five.
Lainey previously revealed that she expects Abby to appear in the next season of Yellowstone.
The singer-turned-actress admitted that she’d be ‘shocked’ if Abby doesn’t return to the hit TV show.
She told Entertainment Tonight in April: ‘I’ll be honest with you. I’d be shocked.
‘And I think how Taylor Sheridan writes his stories, and he just has a beautiful way of bringing things back and letting things go – I’ll be shocked. So, we’ll see what happens.’
On the other hand, Lainey observed that her touring schedule could hinder her Yellowstone ambitions.
The award-winning star admitted that her tour dates could clash with filming, meaning she wouldn’t be able to commit to the next season.
Lainey said: ‘What you don’t see on my calendar is rehearsal for this Country’s C
