Update, Wednesday, August 9: The trailer for the fifth season of Virgin River is finally here,
and by all accounts, it looks like our biggest questions (such as who’s the father of Charmaine’s twins,
and will Mel and Jack finally get married?) will soon be replaced by something far more important: Will everyone survive?
The beloved picturesque town of Virgin River appears to go up in flames (“We will rise from the ashes,” Hope says in the aftermath at a community gathering), leaving everyone’s homes and livelihoods in danger. Of course none of that matters as long as everyone manages to escape, but for anyone that lives in areas where wildfires are prevalent, it’s a harrowing and constant worry.
It’s still TBD on when the tragedy takes place this season, but the trailer is not all doom and gloom. It looks like Mel and Jack get to celebrate their engagement and upcoming baby, while Preacher appears happy in his romantic life. And then there’s Muriel and Cameron, who seem to have hit it off, and I am here for it. So let’s take a look, shall we?
Netflix has also released nine new images from the upcoming season—10 episodes of which drop on Thursday, September 7, followed by two holiday-themed eps on Thursday, November 30—as well as the key art. Take a look:

Original post: Mark your calendars for fall 2023 because that’s when Virgin River, the Netflix hit romantic drama starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, will premiere its fifth season. And—in more exciting news—the streamer has also announced that it’s renewed the show for a sixth season.
The news came as part of Netflix’s virtual up-front presentation on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. No further details were revealed, so we’ll have to wait a little longer for first-look images, a trailer, and a specific fall premiere date.
However, even with the limited information, there’s still quite a bit we know about the new season of Virgin River, which is based on the best-selling Robyn Carr novels of the same name. Read on for all the details, and we’ll continue to update this post as every piece of information trickles in.
When is season five of Virgin River coming?
Fall 2023. Episodes 501- 510 will air on Thursday September 7, 2023, and then episodes 511 and 512, which Netflix is referring to as the VR holiday episodes, will drop on Thursday, November 30, 2023. In other words, we won’t be leaving our houses on those dates.
How many episodes will there be in season five?
Twelve episodes, which Alexandra Breckenridge confirmed to Glamour last summer. (There were also 12 episodes in season four.)
