There is a common fact between Virgin River and Amigas Para Semper
that fans didn’t know and, as a result, many didn’t even notice.
Common fact between the two series
Both Virgin River and Amigas Para Semper became huge hits on Netflix. Both series have a rural vibe and use love as a backdrop to tell their stories.
It’s okay that, in the case of Virgin River, the protagonist duo lives a romantic romance. And in the case of Amigas Para Semper, as the name says, it’s about friendship.
However, both series have one thing in common that many fans didn’t realize. And we will reveal.
The stories
Virgin River tells the story of a nurse, Mel, who decides to leave the big city and then finds an interesting destination in the small town of Virgin River. There, she arrives to help the local doctor, who was initially resistant. But little by little she ends up accepting his help.
But there, Mel also ends up meeting Jack, owner of the “hippest” bar in town. And even though she has romantic feelings for him, we understand that she had a wedding in New York and, little by little, we understand what happened.
Friends Forever tells the story of two friends through the decades – how their friendship grew stronger and, at the same time, they were there for each other. In all moments. The story, in part, takes place in a small town called Firefly Lane, which is where both girls spent their childhood.

on point that fans didn’t notice
Now comes the common point that many fans probably didn’t notice – or didn’t know. Netflix recorded Amigas Para Semper in exactly the same location as Virgin River.
Both Virgin River and Friends Forever are filmed in an area of Vancouver, Canada. Additionally, additional scenes were shot in Snug Cove, Bowen Island, Burnaby and Port Coquitlam communities.
That’s why, at times, the environment of Friends Forever seems so familiar.
Even so, the producers managed to make Firefly Lane a town that in no way resembles Virgin River. Quite possibly because the action in the small town of Amigas Para Semper takes place between the 1970s and 1980s.
Another point in common, but this one I believe all fans knew, is that both series are based on popular book franchises.
In the case of Virgin River, more than 15 books have already been published. While Amigas Para Semper has two published editions, with its stories finished.
In other words: they have a lot in common, right?
Fans are in love with another series on Netflix
It’s worth remembering that, recently, we revealed here at Mix de Séries that Virgin River fans are in love with another series in the same style.
Called Chesapeake Shores, a lot of people had never even heard of it.
In the story, we follow Abby, a successful stock broker in the big city. However, after a failed relationship, she ends up running away from some circumstances by returning to her hometown, which gives the series its name, called Chesapeake Shores.
There, she meets her brothers again – in fact, her sister is the reason she came back. This is because the girl is opening an inn and needed a loan that she was unable to pay. So, to try to negotiate, Abby is asked for mediation.
But Abby didn’t expect this to be the situation that would put her in the path of Trace, a boy she had been involved with 15 years earlier – back in high school. Now, as adults, they reconnect and a romance seems inevitable.
The third season of Virgin River premieres in 2021. Amigas Para Semper has not yet been renewed.
