Dermot Mulroney’s casting in Chicago Fire appears to redeem a role he played five
years ago. Chicago Fire has had a famously long run, airing over 250 episodes, and is a
part of the One Chicago universe, which features several different shows that all tie
together. Over the years, Chicago Fire’s cast has primarily remained the same, with a few occasional changes. However, the next season will change the show in a big way. Season 13 of Chicago Fire marks the dawn of a new Firehouse 51 Chief, as Dermot Mulroney has been cast as Chief Boden’s replacement. Eammon Walker, who plays Chief Boden, was the first actor-producer Dick Wolf cast when introducing the fire department in his One Chicago franchise. Starring in Chicago Fire since its pilot episode in 2012, Boden has been around this universe for quite a while. Therefore, when Boden exited his role as Chief in season 12’s finale, becoming First Deputy Fire Commissioner, fans were naturally left shocked. However, despite the former chief selecting a successor, Christopher Hermann will not be Boden’s replacement in season 13, due to Hermann’s rank.
Instead, the role will go to a new character called Dom Pascal, played by Dermot Mulroney. Dermot Mulroney’s Chicago Fire Casting Redeems His Role On Station 19 Mulroney Goes From Shady Side Character To Lawful Lead Dermot Mulroney’s casting as the new chief in Chicago Fire redeems his role on Station 19 five years ago. Station 19 is another show set in a fire station, this time in Seattle, and is a spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy. In season 2, Mulroney played a recurring role as Greg Tanner, the shady father of Ryan Tanner, a police officer who worked closely with the firefighters at the Seattle Fire Department. Greg was estranged from his son due to the divorce from Ryan’s mother, who kicked him out, and is known for gambling and other shady criminal endeavors. Dermot Mulroney’s characters provide a lot of contrast. Station 19’s Greg Tanner was a criminal who hid from police, whereas Dom Pascal is said to be a respected firefighter, capable of leading others in high pressure situations.
Therefore, Mulroney will play a role that opposes his previous shady character role in Station 19. Furthermore, Greg Tanner is only featured as a side character in Station 19, whereas Chief Pascal in Chicago Fire is a lead character. With Dermot Mulroney playing the leading role of a lawful character in Chicago Fire, it redeems his supporting criminal character role on Station 19. Dermot Mulroney Still Has Another Exciting TV Show Set To Release Soon His New Role Moves Him Out Of Chicago And Into Texas Although Chicago Fire fans will have to wait for season 13, Dermot Mulroney has just been announced for another TV show set to be releasing soon. Variety has reported that The Hunting Wives on Starz will feature Mulroney as a series regular, alongside co-leads Evan Jonigkeit, Malin Åkerman, and Brittany Snow. The eight-episode thriller drama series is based on a novel by May Cobb, who will executive produce, and follows a woman called Sophie and her family’s relocation to Texas. Mulroney will play millionaire Jed Banks, a playboy considering running for Texas Governor, a far cry from his Chicago Fire character, Chief Dom Pascal.
