EASTENDERS fans are convinced fan-favourite 90s character Gita Kapoor is returning
to Walford this year. Eagle-eyed viewers clocked a huge clue about Gita’s possible return earlier

Collins) dropped a huge teaser regarding Gita (Shobu Kapoor). As EastEnders fans know, Cindy’s relationship with Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) has been under a lot of strain in recent weeks. Not feeling like a priority to Ian, Cindy made the shocking decision to embark on an affair with former stepson Junior Knight (Micah Balfour), the son of her ex-husband George Knight (Colin Salmon). Cindy has now gone back to her lying cheating ways and is pulling the wool over Ian’s eyes, using her old pal Gita as an excuse. “You know what? I forgot I’m meeting Gita for a drink,” she told him. “Remember Gita? My old best friend? We’ve been in contact and I totally forgot with everything that’s gone on this week,” she added in reference to the return of Jane Beale (Laurie Brett). Gita was best friends with Cindy during her five-year stint in Walford. She was a fan-favourite character from 1993 and 1998. Most read in Soaps During her time on the show, Gita was involved in some major storylines, including making the shocking discovery that her husband Sanjay (Deepak Verma) had been having an affair with her sister, Meena (Paige Sandu). In a bid to get revenge, Gita left the Square with the daughter they shared, only telling Cindy where she was going.

After being proved innocent, Sanjay tracked her down, only to discover that she had had a baby after falling pregnant from a one-night stand. After he learned that the father had abandoned Gita, the pair decided to give their marriage another chance. But it seems Gita and Cindy may have also been in touch. And despite moving off the square, Gita can’t be too far away from Walford if Cindy is using her as an alibi. Although Cindy was only using her as an excuse, the mention of Gita has sparked a fan theory that the 90s star could actually make a return.
