Kelly Reilly can’t wait for viewers to see Yellowstone season 5, part 2
despite Kevin Costner’s absence. Playing Beth Dutton, John Dutton III’s only daughter,
the actor has been back on location filming for the final stretch of Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western show.
The first half of the flagship’s final season was already released in 2023, but the rest of its run was delayed due to varying factors, including Costner’s terms about returning as the Dutton patriarch as part of the Yellowstone cast. After some conflicting reports, however, it was eventually confirmed that the veteran actor won’t come back.
Despite this, Reilly takes to her official Instagram account to share a sneak peek of the famed Yellowstone ranch as they continue production for Yellowstone season 5, part 2.
The video itself doesn’t reveal any spoiler details about the upcoming ending of the famed series. However, it’s Reilly’s caption that is particularly attention-grabbing. The actor expresses her gratitude for the experience, following it up by hyping Yellowstone season 5, part 2 by saying that she can’t wait to share what they have been working on thus far
After years of brewing tension between John’s kids, Yellowstone season 5, part 1 ended with the set-up for Beth and Jamie’s final showdown. Throughout this whole ordeal, it seemed like the Dutton patriarch was on his daughter’s side, which shouldn’t be surprising, considering everything that Jamie did against the family. As a father, however, John’s presence could have prevented further tragedy between the siblings. Now that Costner is officially out of Yellowstone season 5, part 2, Beth and Jamie are free to go after each other, since it’s unlikely that Kayce can do anything to stop them.
Before the show can move forward, however, it needs to first address what happened to John. As established multiple times in Yellowstone, the Dutton patriarch is committed to the ranch and his family’s ownership of it. He refused to sell despite the financial struggles because of the promise he made to his father. Considering this, it’s difficult to imagine that he will willingly leave the area, especially knowing the brewing all-out war between Jamie and Beth. One of, if not the only, plausible explanations for Costner’s absence in Yellowstone season 5, part 2 is if he died.
For now, it does seem like production for the final episodes of Yellowstone is quietly but substantially progressing. Its nearing release date means that an official first look may be released sometime soon. Whether it will feature old footage of Costner’s John is uncertain. But if Reilly is excited about it, then viewers should keep their hopes up that the show can end despite not featuring its lead star.
It would be an understatement to say that Beth has suffered so much in Yellowstone. Granted, all the Duttons have had their fair share of woes throughout the events of the series, but considering her no-nonsense demeanor and devil-may-care attitude, John’s only daughter has been the target of so many foes in the past. She has been emotionally and physically beaten, but she still remains loyal to the family, especially to her father. Somehow, she’s more like the Dutton patriarch than even her brothers. As Yellowstone closes, Beth may be looking at the biggest fight of her life thus far.
Beyond the Dutton family drama, Beth is also slowly growing her own clan, with Rip and the couple’s adoptive son.
Beth’s conflict with Jamie has been going on for a while. At this point, the chances of a reconciliation are very slim, especially if John ends up dead in Yellowstone season 5, part 2. Not only will Beth be fueled by her building resentment towards her brother, but Jamie will also be an immediate suspect if their father dies under suspicious circumstances. Beyond the Dutton family drama, Beth is also slowly growing her own clan, with Rip and the couple’s adoptive son, Carter, which means she has more people to protect against those who want to hurt her.
