SHOCKING NEWS!!! Another blast from the past as EastEnders teases return of 90s legend

EastEnders has left fans of classic episodes absolutely thrilled in recent weeks

with countless announcements of returning characters – but could another one

be on the way? In the last week alone, Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) made an

unexpected return to the show when Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) paid her a visit, and it was announced that Michael French will soon be reprising his role as David Wicks for a short stint. With characters from all eras of the show heading back to Albert Square, a recent comment from Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) have left us wondering if someone else may be set to return. Cindy was desperate to find an excuse to leave a family meal arranged by Ian in Thursday’s (July 18), and was quick to tell him that she had arranged to meet up with none other than 90s icon Gita Kapoor. We’re offering five lucky Metro readers the chance to win tickets to Fabuloso In The Park at Brighton Pride on Saturday 3 August 2024. To enter, fill out the form below before midday on 28 July. Click here if the form is not loading. Open to UK residents, excluding residents of Northern Island. Over 18s only.

Full T&C’s apply Gita and Cindy were best friends back in the day, following Gita’s arrival to Walford in 1993. During her time on the show, Gita was involved in some major storylines, including one that saw her discover that husband Sanjay had been having an affair with her sister, Meena. In a bid to get revenge, Gita left the Square with the daughter they shared, only telling Cindy where she was going. Gita later returned and reunited with Sanjay, but left again after clashing with his mother. When she was set to return, Sanjay headed to the station to pick her up, but she never appeared. Days later, he contacted the police to report her missing. Sanjay was suspected to have murdered her, but was later proven to be innocent.

Months later, Gita was revealed to be alive when she got in contact with friend Ruth Fowler. Sanjay headed to Birmingham where she had been staying, only to discover that she had had a baby after falling pregnant from a one night stand, having previously struggled to conceive again with Sanjay. When their story was published by a reporter, the Kapoors were left with no choice but to leave Walford in 1999 in order to escape the attention. Although Cindy had used Gita as an excuse to leave the family dinner and instead meet up with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour), could she be telling the truth about them having been back in contact with each other? Are we set to see Cindy and Gita meet up for real?
