Danny Dyer has fired back at the naysayers with a fiery four-word response after they suggested

he’d be out of work post-EastEnders. The 46-year-old TV tough guy became a household name as

Mick Carter in the iconic starring in the BBC soap for nearly a decade since 2013. He had

previously knocked back a role on the show four years before joining, vowing not to sign up until he was “fat, bald and fifty”. The plot sees Lee’s brother Glen, portrayed by series creator Ryan Sampson, having his humdrum suburban existence thrown into chaos by a long-lost sibling. It gives Danny the chance to play into his reputation as a TV hardman.

He confessed that the opportunity to star in Mr Bigstuff was the nudge he needed to bid farewell to the streets of Walford, reports the Mirror. Danny Dyer has opened up about the gruelling schedule of working on EastEnders, revealing that memorising “30 pages a day” can be a real brain-drainer. The actor, who’s famed for playing pub landlord Mick Carter, also shared how the soap restricted him from taking on other gigs, like Celebrity Gogglebox with his daughter Dani. So it’s got its perks, but you’re also sort of tied to the show; you’re not really allowed to do other stuff. You know, you’re working for the BBC. So, you know, it was very emotional.” While Danny’s alter ego Mick may have seemingly met a watery end, with his body yet to be found, fans are left with hope for his return.
