Val had died when he was only nine, and he said that her death was his fault. In

Stevie said that he couldn’t cope with how much young Billy resembled his mum and clarified that it was his sister who called social services, which led Billy to be put in care.

When Billy confronted Phil, he encouraged him to cut ties with Stevie, calling him the “runt of the litter” who was desperate to be liked by his dad. As Teddy suggested that Stevie leave Walford, Billy left a voicemail for Honey explaining the whole situation, and he broke down in tears.
