Doc Mullins’ grandson (Tim Matheson) keeps a secret that has left many people curious. Find out what he hides!
What is Denny’s secret in “Virgin River”
First introduced at the end of the fourth season, Denny claims to be Doc’s long-lost grandson and ends up being welcomed with open arms by him and his wife Hope (Annette O’Toole).
Then, things start to go wrong, with Denny stealing medicine from Doc’s clinic and photographing his medical files, as well as being seen transferring a large amount of money, which raises suspicions.
That’s when fans of the series began to wonder: is Denny really Doc’s grandson or just trying to take advantage of him? Despite suspicions, the young man is actually Doc’s biological grandson and uses the money for another purpose.
Denny is using the large sum of money – an insurance payout after his father’s recent death – to pay off his grandfather’s clinic debt. The fact of hiding medicines and stockpiling them also has an explanation. The young man suffers from Huntington’s disease, a degenerative disease of the central nervous system, caused by the loss of cells in a part of the brain (basal ganglia), without knowing how to deal with the possibility of everything going wrong with Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale).
