Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith) had quite the season on Chicago Fire. She underwent
some of the most radical changes of any character, in ways both personal and professional.
The character served as the maid of honor for her friend, Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer), but
it also meant Brett would no longer be around. Violet was promoted to PIC in Brett’s absence, and then she had to contend with higher ups trying to sabotage her in the field. It was a mess for a little while, and just when things started to cool down, her relationship with Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) imploded. Violet will be a 51 mentor in season 13 If season 12 was all about making adjustments and trying new things, then season 13 is going to be about making sense of these things, and deciding whether or not they suit Violet. The character lost her boyfriend, Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas), not that long ago. Oh, did we mention one of her closest 51 friends, Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende), left too?
It’s a lot, and Violet has dealt with it admirably. Season 13 is going to be crucial, because the character has more responsibility than ever. She’s becoming the mentor that Brett once was to her, and her burgeoning friendship with medic Lyla Novak (Jocelyn Hudon), is something we hopefully get to see more of. She has to navigate her romance with Carver It was Violet who convinced an uncertain Novak to stay at 51, and despite some initial awkwardness, these two have grown into a medic duo that could sustain the show for years. We should double back on the Carver of it all, though. Carver went on furlough at the end of season 12, but not before him and Violet got into a nasty argument. He accused Violet of not being over her feelings for Hawkins, and Violet accused him of harboring feelings for Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). It wasn’t a good luck, but Jake Lockett recently confirmed that his character is returning in season 13, so we hope this dynamic gets repaired. They’re good together. Well, for the most part.
