Stella Kidd Chicago Fire Season 13 Spoilers Revealed by Showrunner

Chicago Fire Season 12 ended in quite a cliffhanger for Kelly Severide, with Jack Damon

being revealed as his half-brother. But now showrunner Andrea Newman has revealed some

Season 13 spoilers about Stella Kidd to TVLine that suggest Severide might not be the only

member of Firehouse 51 whose family we might be meeting. “We established in Season 5 that her parents died when she was young, and she was raised by her aunt and uncle,” Newman revealed adding, “but there is definitely more in her family story to be revealed. Stay tuned….” That is quite a tease considering we have indeed not explored very much of Stella’s family history outside of what Newman herself confirmed. Season 13 is bound to explore Severide’s relationship with Damon, which will have an impact on Kidd as well, as she is married to Severide. That’s not the same as gaining a brother, but a brother-in-law is something. More than she’s had so far, for sure. And to that, we had to add the unresolved conversation Severide and Kidd had at the end of Season 12 when Kelly indicated he would be interested in starting a family.

The moment occurred after Stella received a picture from baby Julia, Sylvie Brett’s adopted daughter. This prompted Severide’s confession that he’d been thinking about a family for some time. Of course, starting a family requires a much bigger sacrifice for Stella than it does for Kelly. But the pair were then interrupted by news of Boden’s promotion, and then the season ended with Damon’s bombshell so we never got to see Stella and Kelly pick the conversation back up. All of these narrative threads have to do with a new family, though, not with Stella’s existing family, which is what Newman seems to be teasing we will see. And honestly, going into Season 13, it feels like we’re way overdue exploring Kidd’s existing family. Particularly if the show is truly thinking it’s time for Stella and Kelly to expand their family. Bringing a new child into the world is always an emotional time, but it might especially be so for Stella, who lost her parents so young and who had such a rough time after that loss. It would make sense to bring back her aunt and uncle if she were thinking of expanding her family, at least so the show could delve into Stella’s trauma as she considers whether she wants to have a kid, and what that means for her. Most fans thought Stella’s hesitation when Severide brought up the possibility might only have to do with her job, but there is a lot of trauma there for Stella too, and the show would do well to explore that too. What better way to do it than bringing back Stella’s family in Season 13?
