Emmerdale’s Belle Dingle lies to abusive husband Tom about miscarriage – but fails to cover her tracks

EMMERDALE’s Belle King may have put herself at risk by telling a huge lie to husband

Tom – but could he soon catch on? The characters tied the knot earlier this year, and recently, Belle

fell pregnant with their first child. However, Belle has suffered months of abuse at Tom’s

hands and is adamant she can’t have his baby. She has instead taken steps towards having an abortion, by covertly visiting the clinic unbeknown to Tom. One such visit revealed Belle to be four weeks pregnant. She told the nurse: “I haven’t told my husband. And it’s not because I don’t love him, because I do, and none of this is his fault, it’s all me. “I just don’t think I’d be good. It’s not the right time, I’m sorry.” When asked if she wanted more time to think about the decision, Belle replied: “No. I don’t want to go through with this pregnancy, my mind’s made up.”

In Friday’s episode (June 21), Belle concealed her secret from Tom even further. As Tom went to work, she headed to the hospital again. While in the car, as Belle took another tablet, she glanced at her watch and the parking ticket, aware that the timings surrounding her trip would be crucial. After calling Tom, she returned home and told him she started bleeding shortly after he left for work. According to Belle’s story, she went to the hospital and learned she had experienced a miscarriage. Distraught, Tom said the hospital was negligent for not contacting him when Belle got there. After his anger settled, he even suggested trying for another pregnancy although Belle tried to dissuade this.

Ultimately, Tom’s suspicions were clearly raised by the end of the episode. He checked Belle’s locations through her phone and her parking ticket for the day, which confirmed his wife’s claimed movements. However, Tom didn’t see another parking ticket on the floor, which would reveal Belle had been at the hospital earlier in the week without telling him. Over the past few months, Tom’s behaviour has included controlling and manipulating his wife, as well as subjecting her to physical abuse. Previously aired scenes saw Belle uncover Tom was tracking her movements through her mobile phone – and also how she has worked around this to reach her clinic appointments. Who will find the incriminating ticket first?
