Speaking as a guest on the July 22 episode of Michael Rosenbaum’s Inside of You podcast Baccarin revealed the episode count for her new show, which she is “cautiously optimistic” about. The actress, who hasn’t done network TV projects since her involvement in Fox’s superhero series Gotham, said Sheriff Country’s debut run will consist of twenty episodes, which, according to her, is “really tough on everybody, but I’m cautiously optimistic; I’m really excited about the series.”
Sheriff Country was first proposed as a potential spin-off to Fire Country on January 23, 2024, which, at the time, was set to be introduced via a back-door pilot episode in Season 2, with Baccarin attached to lead. The episode titled “Alert the Sheriff” introduced the headliner’s character, Edgewater County Sheriff’s Sergeant Mickey Fox. Later in May that year, it received a straight-to-series order, with CBS Studios joining the production of the series and was later given its official title.
