Emmerdale fans believe that John Sugden will be arrested as the police “expose” Owen Michaels evidence.
Dedicated viewers of the soap will recall that John (Oliver Farnworth) was behind Nate Robinson’s (Jurell Carter) death following last year’s barn fire.
In a revealing flashback, audiences saw John administer an injection to Nate, which was meant to “save” him. However, the drug proved lethal and soon led to Nate’s untimely death.
To hide his tracks, John moved Nate’s body to a bridge and disposed of it in the lake, the same location as the infamous limo crash.
The emergence of Nate’s body led to two immediate suspects being pinpointed by the authorities, reports Belfast Live.
Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), who had a heated exchange with his son on his last day in the village, was initially under suspicion.
However, Nate’s wife, Tracy (Amy Walsh), has since become the main suspect after John planted Nate’s phone in her daughter Frankie’s (Eden Ratcliffe-Knights) playhouse.
The doubts about Tracy intensified when Cain discovered that she stood to inherit Nate’s life insurance, raising more questions about her intentions.
Despite their initial tension, Cain and Tracy have now joined forces in a bid to identify the true perpetrator behind Nate’s murder.
Feeling the pressure, John soon turned his attention to newcomer Owen Michaels (Simon Haines), who had previously spiked John’s brother, Robert (Ryan Hawley).
During Friday’s (July 18) episode, John was given a list of patients to visit at their homes, which included Owen, who battles with alcohol and drug addiction.
When John arrived at Owen’s residence, he found no response at the door, with loud music blaring from within the property.
After discovering Owen unconscious on the sofa, John considered calling an ambulance but instead allowed Owen to die and composed a note on his laptop, before clearing away any evidence.
During the tense scenes, John was nearly caught out by Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), who had also been given Owen’s address on his home visits list by mistake, but he couldn’t get inside and soon departed.
In spoilers for next week, it’s revealed that the note John left on Owen’s laptop was a fabricated confession to Nate’s death as it’s confirmed that Owen has died.
It isn’t long before the police inform Cain and Tracy that they have discovered a suicide note admitting to Nate’s death, but they find this information difficult to accept.
Now, several Emmerdale fans believe that John will be exposed as the police might notice that Owen’s laptop had been wiped clean, indicating suspicious circumstances.
“So Owen’s laptop has NO fingerprints on it, not even his. The door handle too. The police will suss something’s not right. Then again maybe not! We need Vera or Morse on the case,” one person wrote on a Facebook fan page.
Another commented: “Police will look at other ways to catch the killer through CCTV, witnesses and technology, and nothing incriminating Owen will come up.”
A third remarked: “The clean crime scene will surely ring alarm bells,” with yet another adding: “What if Owen is illiterate and that leads to John being found out.”
