EastEnders’ Oscar receives a blast from the past as things take a turn

Oscar Branning’s (Pierre Moullier) dangerous situation worsens in EastEnders next week.

As viewers of the BBC One soap know, the newcomer is currently avoiding facing some dodgy faces from his past.

Prior to his return to Walford, a fella called Fat Mike (Tai Hilferink) stole a car and roped Oscar into joining him for a joyride.

As questions began to be asked, Oscar turned on his mate and grassed him up. In retaliation, Mike prepared a petrol bomb and launched it at what he thought was Tanya’s (Jo Joyner) house, actually targeting her neighbour in the process.

Furious at her son’s behaviour, she threw him out and he was sentenced to three months in a youth detention centre.

Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa) came to her brother’s rescue upon his release, offering him a place to stay on the condition he didn’t cause anymore issues.

Her social worker – who has been involved with the family since she became hooked on drugs during pregnancy – wasn’t too pleased to see him causing mischief in The Square, but ultimately there was no great issue.

Lauren decided that if he was going to stay, he’d have to earn his keep, and hoped that a job working on the market stall would help to settle his somewhat wayward behaviour.

After several interventions, it worked, but it wasn’t long before his positive mood was quashed by a text from Mike, declaring him ‘dead’.

In upcoming scenes, Oscar wakes up and says his goodbyes to one night stand Isaac (Zak Devlin), and gets another talking to from his uncle Jack (Scott Maslen).

He urges his nephew not to add anymore pressure to Lauren and her fiancé Peter Beale’s (Thomas Law) already hectic lives, but will he take the advice on board?

Later, wanting to step up and take some more responsibility in the household, he offers to babysit Louie (Jake McNally) and baby Jimmy.

However, things quickly turn awry when Mike arrives at the door and deals a menacing threat.

The thug scarpers when Lauren and Peter arrive home, but leaves behind a stark reminder of his warnings for Oscar to find.
