Brand New Hero Enters the Fire: First Look at ‘Fire Country’ Spinoff Has Fans Talking

Sheriff Country will follow Mickey as she patrols the streets of small town Edgewater, keeping the peace, solving crimes, and teaming up with other first responders to uphold the law. As a spinoff to Fire Country, the show is set in the same town, and will have links to its sister show, as well as crossovers.

Per TVLine, Baccarin teamed up with Fire Country‘s Max Thieriot to present exclusive first-look clips of the upcoming Fire Country spinoff show. The first clip shows Baccarin’s Sheriff Mickey Fox teaming up with Deputy Nathan Boone (Matt Lauria), and the second shows her coming into contact with Cal Fire Chief Sharon Leone (Diane Farr), her stepsister, in a crossover episode.

The clip shows Mickey and Thieriot’s firefighter, Bode, entering a police cruiser, and standing in the forest, while an action-packed clip shows Bode saving her from a burning building. Elsewhere, an interaction with Sharon Leone in the police station seems prickly, though a latter clip shows the stepsisters sharing wine.

What This Means For Sheriff Country

The Show Will Likely Utilize Crossovers Early In Its Run

Both the clip and Baccarin reinforce Mickey’s commitment to her job as the sheriff of Edgewater. The fact that she’s elected to the position adds pressure on her. Sheriff Country feels like it will be a show that balances action with personal challenges for its characters, making for interesting and captivating arcs.

Baccarin could make more appearances in future Fire Country episodes, but it seems very likely that Sheriff Country is going to lean heavily on crossovers early in its run. As a spinoff show, Sheriff Country can utilize characters and arcs from Fire Country as a great way of being able to transition audiences into the new show.

Our Take On Sheriff Country’s Crossovers

The Show Will Need To Stand On Its Own Two Feet Eventually

While using Fire Country characters such as Bode and Sharon for crossover purposes, Sheriff Country will need to find a way to be able to stand alone as its own show. Using crossover arcs and characters as a base point is fine, but the show needs to ensure it is not too reliant on appearances by Fire Country cast members.

Baccarin is a strong lead, and establishing her character’s existing relationships early is important to help Sheriff Country thrive and grow with its own narrative.
