Coronation Street’s Sally Carman has opened up about her future on the cobbles.
Sally has played Abi Webster in the ITV soap since 2017. When the character was introduced, she was relying on son Seb to help pay the bills and look after her other children, Charlie and Lexi.
The twins ended up in care as a result of Abi overdosing on drugs. This led to her putting the children up for adoption, adamant someone else could give them a better life. Abi started job at the garage in Weatherfield, and she then desperately tried to create a better life for herself.
Abi has been through an awful lot during her 8 years on the cobbles. Her son Seb was murdered, she had to prove to the courts she was fit to look after other son Alfie following his traumatic birth, she tried to get revenge on Seb’s killer in a sewer system, she watched Mason Radcliffe die…and that’s not even all of it!
Despite the constant drama Abi finds herself in, Sally still absolutely loves her life at Corrie – and certainly wants it to continue.
‘I see Corrie in my future and I’m hoping they do’, the star said in an interview with The Sun recently.
‘Do you know what? If it was all to end tomorrow, I would literally be going out with the biggest thank-you, because I came in for six episodes and here I am. So there would be nothing but absolute gratitude. But let’s hope not just yet! I’m loving it and I’m just grateful for every day.’
Abi is currently battling her feelings as Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) continues to flirt with her, despite being the brother of Abi’s husband.
‘Abi loves Kevin, but Carl has awakened her feelings’, Sally said, discussing this storyline.
‘She’s been desperately trying to fight it because she knows what she’s got to lose’.

Sally, who is married to Tim Metcalfe star Joe Duttine, went on to say that as much as she likes Abi, she wouldn’t want to be pals with her in real life!
‘Abi wouldn’t be a friend of mine’, she said.
‘I do like her, I think she’s got great qualities – she’s got a huge heart – but she’s also a handful. And because she’s emotionally immature, she gets very defensive, very upset, very hurt. I wouldn’t want that in my life.’
