Actor Max Murray joined the cast of BBC’s EastEnders as Joel Marshall, the stepson of Vicki Fowler, earlier this year

EastEnders has welcomed several new and old faces over recent months, with a slew of stars arriving in Walford while others have left Albert Square for good.
One of the soap’s big returns occurred in the aftermath of Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) tragic death, with Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) making her way back to Walford for the first time in years.
She arrived with her boyfriend Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) and son Joel (Max Murray). The family soon decided to make London their new home and wasted no time getting to know the Walford residents.

His role as Joel in EastEnders marks teenager Max’s first regular TV role, but it seems he’s no stranger to showbiz.

Max is the son of Gina Murray, an actress and singer. Gina’s TV credits include Doctor Who and Witless, and she’s appeared in theatre productions including Chicago, Mamma Mia!, and Hairspray.

She’s also lent her voice to numerous video games over the years. Gina is the mother of sons Max and Joe, and her own parents are also famous faces.

Gina’s father is Mitch Murray, a songwriter, record producer, and author. He has had an incredibly successful career, which has seen him win two Ivor Novello Awards.
Gina’s mother is Grazina Frame, who was married to Mitch until 1980. Grazina is an actress, singer and voice double. She has appeared in TV shows and theatre productions.
Gina, Grazina, and Mitch are also parents to Mazz Murray, Max’s aunt. Mazz is a singer and actress known for her theatre roles.

Her work includes portrayals of Patsy Cline, Dusty Springfield and Vivian Ellis in tribute shows. Mazz played the Killer Queen in the West End production of the musical We Will Rock You, and has appeared in the likes of Chicago.
She and her sister, Gina, also formed their own music group, Woman, in 2010, alongside Anna-Jane Casey and Emma Kershaw. The band’s debut single was titled I’m a Woman.
Mazz, real name Marianne, is married to Oren Harush, whom she married in 2009. The couple’s nuptials included a performance by Queen musician Brian May.
