Coronation Street has issued a worrying Gary Windass update as the character goes missing, and the news will devastate his wife, Maria.
As fans of the ITV soap have seen, Maria was recently arrested for Actual Bodily Harm (ABH), before potentially ruining her mariage to her husband.
It’s been no secret that Maria and newcomer Lou Michaelies haven’t been getting on and while there has always been tension between the pair, mainly thanks to Lou’s husband Mick, things were stepped up a notch earlier this month.
They both attended David and Shona Platt’s gathering at No.8 Coronation Street following the completion of work on the property after it was ravaged by fire earlier this year.
But Maria wasn’t happy about Lou being involved, and even Gary appeared to be getting tired of his partner’s opinions of Lou. Later, things got out of hand when Maria thought she had caught Lou stealing the takings from Audrey’s salon, which were given to Shona to take to the bank.
After confronting Lou, viewers saw Maria and Lou get into a tussle, before cutting away to show the other residents hearing a crash, before heading inside and finding Lou on the floor, with blood on her arms having fallen on David’s new coffee table.
Maria was quick to deny pushing her, but Lou wasn’t having any of it. Shoan confirmed the money was still in her bag, and hadn’t been stolen, and it was Gary who offered to take Lou to the hospital, where she had a few stitches. Later, Maria was visited by two officers, who wanted to take her in for questioning on suspicion of ABH.
It was then at the start of this week that things got worse for Maria as she faced pushing Gary away, while he was seen supporting Lou in what he thought was her hour of need.
Later, Maria accused Gary of having an affair with Lou, which he denied, despite her lunging in for a kiss during their last meeting. All the while, a smug Lou looked on gleefully at the message she’d sent from Gary’s phone to her own, reading: “I want you. When can I see you again?”.

Gary later left, but he hasn’t been seen since. This week, Corrie viewers will see his worried step-son Liam confides in Maria that Gary isn’t answering his calls and he should have been back from his mum’s by now. While Maria masks her concerns for Liam, it’s seemingly clear she has no idea where Gary is.
New spoilers for next week have now given an update on Gary’s whereabouts, and it’s not looking good. As Liam opens his birthday presents, he again tells his mum he’s heard nothing from Gary and reckons something must have happened.
Maria fears he might be right and as the family gather for Liam’s birthday tea, viewers will see an unconscious Gary in hospital. When he takes a turn for the worse, a nurse rushes to his aid. Will he be ok?
It comes after Jack P Shepherd, who is famed for playing Weatherfield’s David, teased that drama was on the cards for Gary, played by Mikey North.
Speaking to Digital Spy at the British Soap Awards 2025 at the end of last month, Jack said: “I don’t know what I can tease and what I can’t!
“[Mick’s] still in it and he’s still doing naughty, bad things. I’m kind of involved in that, in a way. And then something happens with Gary. Something bad happens with Gary. I’m kind of involved in that.”
Jack, who was recently crowned winner of Celebrity Big Brother, then clarified: “None of them are my stories, but I’m involved in them, in a way! That’s kind of what I’m filming at the minute.”
