9-1-1: Lone Star plunged into the personal challenges that Judd, who’s played by Jim Parrack, faced with his battle against alcohol and feeling like he’d lost his faith. His wife left for some missionary work, which hit him hard, and he just couldn’t shake the sadness. He started drinking again, and it got so bad that he had to go to AA to talk about it. In one of the meetings, he admitted how sad he was and even sent a text to his wife that he thought God didn’t want her to get.
Owen, played by Rob Lowe, saw what was happening to his buddy and decided to step up. He had a heart-to-heart with Judd about getting sober and pushed him to get some help. It got to the point where Judd moved in with Owen so he wouldn’t have to deal with the emptiness of his own house. Then, there was a fire at an ammunition factory, and Judd ignored the boss’s orders and almost got himself killed because of it. Owen was so worried that he told him to take a break from work for a bit. But things started to look up when Judd was feeling at his lowest and begged God for some kind of sign.
