‘9-1-1’ Lone Star: Finale Teases Tragic Death‘9-1-1’ Lone Star: Finale Teases Tragic Death

The hit Fox procedural series 9-1-1: Lone Star is coming to an end. While the original 9-1-1 continues on ABC., the spinoff didn’t get moved over, and Fox is ending all the shows that aired pre-Disney purchase. This is disappointing news for fans of the show. However, more disappointing news might come because the show might end with a beloved character’s death.

Here is what we know about the upcoming series finale.

9-1-1: Lone Star Finale Teases Tragic Death

The 9-1-1: Lone Star finale looks to be explosive. For one thing, there is an asteroid headed for Earth, and it is on target to hit Austin. This is something that has all the first responders panicking and scrambling to figure out how to protect the people from this possible disaster.

That could kill any number of people. However, there is a much more tragic and personal storyline playing out alongside the disaster story. Tommy (Gina Torres) learned she has an inoperable tumor pressing against her aorta. Viewers already saw her collapse in front of her daughters, only for them to save her life with CPR.

The last time viewers saw Tommy, though, she was lying on the couch, and it was unclear if she had survived after months of unsuccessful chemotreatments. Tommy didn’t tell her daughters about the diagnosis, though, and asked them to send her selfies for her to look at as she was lying ill.

That is when the unexpected happened. Her husband, Charles (Derek Webster), showed up to give her some guidance. The twist is that Charles is dead.

How Did Charles Return In 9-1-1: Lone Star?

Charles died from an aneurysm in 9-1-1: Lone Star season 2. It was a huge moment and one that fans hated at the time. However, showrunner Rashad Raisani said that they killed him then because they planned this moment and finally pulled it out in the penultimate episode (via PEOPLE).

“I took a lot of heat for ending the Trevor and Tommy relationship, but part of why we did it is because I knew this was where we wanted to take her character full circle with this love of her life,” Raisani said.

Charles came back to give Tommy guidance as a hallucination of sorts. Actress Gina Torres said it was because her character had a stroke. “It was hard with this fantastical situation where she isn’t sure how much of it is actually happening,” Torres said (via TVLine). “Modulating that emotionally so that the audience buys it was the toughest part.”

Raisani also said something that makes it sound like Tommy will die in the finale. “My mom, right before she passed, I was in her hospital room, and she was telling me about how her mom and dad had come to visit her that morning. And it was so vivid for her,” he remembered about his own life. ” “She wasn’t saying it as if, ‘Oh, they’re ghosts.’ She was just saying it as if it happened. And then she passed not long after, and it gave her such comfort.”
