The Yellowstone prequel is making a change for its second season.
The 1923 tale is officially set to continue over on Paramount+, with season two
of Taylor Sheridan’s frontier show en route to us as we speak. According to reports and The Austin Film
Commission’s Instagram page, filming on the second season of Paramount’s 1923 has now begun. The Yellowstone prequel put the early generation of the Dutton family through the wringer in its first season, and they only just made it out alive. But the finale left us with more questions about what could be next for the Montana ranch and its struggling family.
Not only do they have the possession of their land to worry about, but also a murder at the hands of Spencer Dutton (Brandon Sklenar), which is sure to stoke plenty of drama in the upcoming season.
So when will 1923‘s second season be available to watch? Here’s everything you need to know.Is there a season 2 of 1923 coming?
Short answer, yes!
It was actually confirmed before the first season’s finale had even aired, with Paramount+ announcing that a second season of 1923 would be on the way.
Where will 1923 season 2 be filmed?
It’s been revealed that the show will be moving location for its second outing, marking a big change for the Yellowstone prequel.
The debut season was filmed in the city of Butte, Montana (where the show is set), but it’s been reported that season two will be moving over to ATX Studios in Austin, Texas (via Austin Business Journal).
When is the 1923 season 2 release date?
It’s too soon to say when new episodes of 1923 will be ready for us and a release window has not been officially announced. But given production times, we’d estimate that season two won’t be ready before 2025.
While Paramount+ didn’t waste any time in confirming that the Dutton origin story would be getting a second season, the subsequent Hollywood strikes delayed production on the show.
The stars of 1923, including Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, reunited at the Golden Globes in January and gave a long-awaited update on the second season.
During a red-carpet interview, Brandon Sklenar said he’s looking forward to working with the acting heavyweights during the second season, since his character Spencer didn’t share any screen time with them since he was off travelling through Africa and Europe in the first season.
Sklenar told Fox News: “I haven’t gotten to act with them yet. I will in the last eight episodes that we’re about to start… It’s happening, and I’m stoked, I’m excited.”
He was then asked if he could shed any light on the next instalments in the Yellowstone universe, to which he said: “They run a pretty tight ship over there in terms of like information. I’m still waiting for a couple scripts for next season and we leave in a couple months. It’s kind of exciting that way. You don’t really know until you know.”
It’s hard to tell at this stage how long viewers will have to wait for season two, but make sure to check back here for all the latest updates.
